Faxly (“Faxly,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) lets you send and receive real faxes from your iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Faxly app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Faxly, you agree to this policy.
No account. No ads.The short version
- You don’t create an account. No name, email, or password is required to use Faxly.
- We collect only what’s needed to send and receive your faxes and to run your subscription.
- We show no ads. To learn which ad campaign led you to Faxly, we use a measurement partner (AppsFlyer); with your permission this can include your device’s advertising identifier.
- Your device’s contacts stay on your device. We never upload your address book.
Information we collect
Most of the following is used only to make the app work (“App Functionality”) and is linked to your device-based identity. The advertising identifier is used, only with your permission, to measure ad campaigns (see Advertising measurement below):
| Data | What it is | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Phone numbers | Your assigned Faxly number, and the sender/recipient numbers on each fax | To route and deliver faxes to and from your number |
| Fax documents | The files you send and the faxes you receive | To transmit, deliver, and let you view your faxes |
| Device identifier | A random per-install ID generated on your device | To identify your anonymous, device-based account |
| User identifier | An account ID (and a recovery ID) assigned by our service | To keep your number and history, and restore them if you reinstall |
| Purchase history | The App Store transaction/receipt for your subscription | To verify your subscription and unlock the app |
| Push token | An Apple-issued notification token (if you enable notifications) | To alert you when a fax arrives or a delivery completes |
| Advertising identifier (IDFA) | Apple’s per-device advertising ID, used only if you allow tracking | To measure which ad campaign led you to install Faxly (through AppsFlyer) |
Your contacts
If you grant Contacts access, Faxly reads your address book only on your device so you can pick someone to fax without typing a number. Your contacts are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can revoke this permission any time in iOS Settings.
Camera and photos
If you scan a document or import a photo, the resulting file is used to build the fax you choose to send. We access the camera and your selected photos only for that purpose.
How we use information
- To send, receive, and display your faxes and their delivery status.
- To assign and maintain your dedicated fax number.
- To verify and manage your subscription and entitlement.
- To send you notifications you’ve enabled (fax arrivals and delivery updates).
- To provide support, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure and reliable.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help operate Faxly, and only as needed to run the service:
- Telecommunications / fax carriers: to transmit and receive faxes over the phone network.
- Cloud hosting & storage providers: to store and move fax documents securely.
- Apple: processes your subscription purchase and delivers push notifications.
- AppsFlyer: measures which marketing campaign led to your install, as described in Advertising measurement.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to comply with legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.
Advertising measurement
We show no ads inside Faxly, and we do not sell your personal information. We do measure which marketing campaign led you to install the app, so we know where our effort is worthwhile. For this we use a mobile-measurement partner, AppsFlyer, which records install and subscription events tied to your device.
On first launch we ask, through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, whether we may use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for this measurement. If you decline, measurement continues without the IDFA and is not linked to you across other companies’ apps or websites. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
Data retention
We keep your fax documents and history so they’re available to you in the app while your account and subscription are active. You can delete individual faxes in the app at any time. If your subscription lapses, your number may be released and associated data may be deleted after a reasonable period. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us.
Security
Faxes are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and documents are stored using access-controlled cloud storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards. Note that faxing itself relies on the public telephone network, which is outside our control.
Children’s privacy
Faxly is not directed to children and is intended for users 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices & rights
- Turn Contacts, Camera, Photos, or Notifications access on or off in iOS Settings.
- Delete faxes within the app.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data. To exercise them, contact us at the address below.
International users
Faxly is operated from the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
